  • 🍔 FREE SHAKE SHACK? Shake Shack will give away free food if this year’s Oscars runs over three hours and thirty-one minutes. But if the Oscars runtime is under three hours and thirty-one minutes, then Shake Shack will offer free SmokeShacks. The free food does come with a contingency in that of a $10 minimum purchase. Patrons must also use the code, ‘BIGWINS’ at checkout. The campaign, Hollywood’s Biggest Night Promotion, is to celebrate this year’s Oscars with full-length audience engagement.

In his Instagram post, Choi shared some of the stand’s curations, including tacos and burritos stuffed with asada, al pastor, chicken and mushrooms.   • 🎬️ CULVER CITY: The Screenland 5k takes place in Culver City this weekend. This is a unique race where participants dress up in costumes and race through movie studios, a wizard’s rainbow, and other motion picture landmarks [🔗 Google Maps of Race Route], all of which is for a good cause. The weekend event schedule kicks off tomorrow with a Health & Fitness Expo, Olympic Torch Relay, and Celebrity Charity Trike Race. On Sunday, Culver City will close all marathon and nearby streets at 5:00am allowing for those to play in the streets car-free at 7:00am. At 8:15am, there will be a DJ and a Barbie Flashmob, followed by a costume contest at 9:00am with a 9:20am Screeland 5K race time. Our young ones can also participate with a Munchkin Dash at 10:15am, and everything closes out at 10:40am with an awards ceremony where streets will reopen at 11:30am. More information about this exciting event can be found on the Screenland 5k’s website, which is jam-packed with more content that I could have included - this race looks awesome!

  • 👯‍♀️ WEST HOLLYWOOD: The City of West Hollywood is honoring women all-month long with various activities, meetups, and socials. The globe lanterns above Santa Monica Boulevard will now glow purple and gold from now until March 22nd. Notable events for this month-long celebration include the Women’s History Month Party on Friday, March 15th from 7:00pm - 10:00pm, and the 27th Annual West Hollywood Women in Leadership Awards and Reception on Wednesday, March 27th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

  • 🏃‍♂️ LOS ANGELES MARATHON: A reminder that the Los Angeles Marathon will take place next Sunday, March 17th. Marathon runners will start at Dodger Stadium and finish on the Avenue of the Stars in Century City. This year’s 39th running of the Los Angeles Marathon is presented by ASICS with proceeds supporting The McCourt Foundation’s mission to build a healthier world. Registration is open for those that are interested in participating.

  • 🌹 2024 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES: The Tournament of Roses marching bands announced for the 2024 Rose Parade include a diverse lineup of bands from various locations. Some of the notable bands participating are: The Salvation Army Tournament of Roses Band, The Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band, The West Chester INCOMPARABLE Golden Rams Marching Band, and The BOSS (Bands of Santiago Sharks). These four bands were selected based on musicianship, marching ability, and entertainment value criteria by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. The next Tournament of Roses Parade will take place January 1st in Pasadena.

  • 🤵 BEVERLY HILLS: The 1920s are making a comeback with a Gatsby night in Beverly Hills next Saturday, March 16th at the Saban Theatre. This event, hosted by Street Food Cinema, will immerse attendees in the opulence and decadence of the Jazz Age. The evening will feature live jazz music from The Big Butter Jazz Band, Charleston lessons, a costume contest, a vintage photo booth, and a screening of the 2013 Baz Luhrmann-directed film The Great Gatsby. Attendees can enjoy delicious bites, signature cocktails, and even access a private speakeasy for an extra fee. The event starts at 5:30pm with the movie screening at 7:30pm. Tickets range from $25 to $50, with an additional VIP Add-On available for access to the private speakeasy.

  • 🎤 HENRY WINKLER: USC has honored veteran actor and funnyman Henry Winkler with the Prestigious Oakie Award. The award was presented during the Jack Oakie & Victoria Horne Oakie Masters of Comedy Lecture Series. The Oakie Award provides recognition to exceptional achievement in film and television comedy.

  • 🌊 MALIBU: The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is asking Malibu residents for help in solving crime quickly with a new camera registry program. The program will allow law enforcement to have direct access to residential cameras from those volunteering homeowners in Malibu. I would not suggest this program to any homeowners that are nudists. I might take that back depending on who the homeowner is. The Sheriff’s Department says that camera registration takes less than one minute and can all be done online via a secured online portal.

  • 🌊 STATE OF THE CITY: Manhattan Beach’s 2024 State of the City will take place on Thursday, March 21st from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. The State of the City provides an update to the current state of Manhattan Beach, including the city’s advancements + future developments. A five-leader panel will take place this year with the event to take place at Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach. The event is free to the Manhattan Beach community but registration is required.

  • 🧑‍⚖️ SANTA MONICA COLLEGE: The Santa Monica College Law Pathway program has been honored with the Diversity Champion Award, recognizing outstanding organizations for the program’s efforts in supporting diversity, equity and inclusion within the field of law.

  • 🏫 USC COMMENCEMENT: Jon M. Chu has been named as USC’s 2024 Commencement Speaker. Chu is best known for his directorial roles of Crazy Rich Asians and Wicked. The forty-four year old graduated from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a BFA in Film & Television Production in 2003. USC’s commencement address takes place on Friday, May 10th.

  • 💡VAN NUYS: A pilot program has been introduced to communities of Van Nuys, replacing existing street lighting systems with solar-powered + battery-powered lights. The pilot program, Los Angeles Solar Lighting Pilot Program, hopes to not only keep neighborhoods safer, but to reduce the theft of copper. City officials state that the program will also reduce the cost to repair and maintain street lights.

  • 🎬️ HOLLYWOOD: City Council has approved a new studio complex development on W. Santa Monica Blvd. The project will be located where a former Sears once stood and will house 110,000 square feet of production studio space, over 388,000 square feet of offices, 12,300 square feet of ground-floor space and available parking for 981 vehicles throughout two levels.

  • 🛣️ CARSON: The City of Carson has started works on repairing and resurfacing residential streets throughout all city districts. This includes grinding roadway services and adding new asphalt layers to roads. Residents and commuters can expect delays as construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00am - 5:00pm. ℹ️

  • 🏎️ RIVIAN: Irvine’s Rivian unveiled its new midsize platform, R2, a midsize SUV that is said to deliver performance, capability and utility in a five-seat package optimized for big adventures and daily use. The company also announced R3 + R3X, a midsize crossover with off-road capability, passenger comfort, and storage. Both the R2 and R3 will feature two battery sizes with the larger battery pack achieving a range of over 300 miles on a single charge and offering a 0-60mph acceleration in under three seconds. Rivian’s stock surged in trading after yesterday’s announcement with these new offerings, in addition to Rivian’s plan of saving $2.25bn in costs.

  • 🚀 INGLEWOOD: Steve Ballmer has established a new umbrella company named Halo Sports & Entertainment. This move is part of a broader initiative to transform Inglewood into a sports and entertainment hub, with the $1bn Clippers Arena playing a significant role in this transformation.

  • 💼 SMALL BIZ: Los Angeles is gearing up for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games with a strong focus on economic development and small business growth. While in Paris, Mayor Karen Bass emphasized that these aspects will be top priorities for the event. The city is actively preparing by sending an international delegation to France to learn from innovative projects in areas such as housing, green transportation, and infrastructure, drawing inspiration from Paris' preparations for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

  • 👙 BAYWATCH REBOOT: The original series of Baywatch was one of the most-watched TV shows in the world, running for eleven seasons. Now, a reboot for the series is coming back, airing on FOX this upcoming fall. The new series reboot is written by Lara Olsen who will also serve as showrunner. Baywatch creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz will serve alongside with Olsen as executive producers.

  • 🥊 JAKE PAUL VS. MIKE TYSON: Jake Paul, aged 27, and Mike Tyson, aged 57, are set to face one another at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on July 20th. The boxing match will be streamed live to Netflix subscribers in a partnership with Most Valuable Promotions. Tyson has been known for singing Paul’s praises, stating that Jake Paul has done more for the sport of boxing than some boxing champions have. Paul, who turned pro in 2020, has a 9-1 record with six wins by knockout. Tyson turned pro in 1985 and has a record of 50-6-2, with 44 knockouts.
