• FRIDAY - SUNDAY: Panda Express brings its hometown some feel-good energy for AAPI Heritage Month with Pandaoke, a free karaoke-meets-dining pop-up landing this Friday - Sunday on S Figueroa. Guests can step inside a seven-foot-tall takeout box, sing their hearts out to a thirty-second track, and walk away with a video keepsake. The activation is part of Panda's new Have You Eaten Yet? campaign, celebrating the joy of food, music, and community. A Family Meal gets you an exclusive Pandaoke Kit (while supplies last).

DAVID DOBRIK 🚀 CHIP LAUNCH

• David Dobrik has extended his food empire beyond Doughbriks Pizza on Sunset Boulevard with Wavers, a new line of chips in Late Night Pizza, Spicy Pickle, Hot Honey and Extra Cheesy flavors that officially debuted at a launch party in his Sherman Oaks mansion on Thursday, complete with branded merchandise, party games and Doughbriks pizzas under the banner ‘You’ve had pizza. You’ve had chips. You’ve never had this.’  The snacks have been Positioned as a better for you snack with just 70 calories per bag, no cholesterol and no artificial flavors.

WEST LA 🤝 KINKAN X MIYA MIYA

• West LA’s West Edge development will welcome two major culinary players in 2026: Miya Miya, a Smorgasburg hit known for chef Yazeed ‘Yaz’ Soudani’s Jordan-trained shawarma, and KinKan, chef Nan Yimcharoen’s high-end Thai-influenced Japanese kaiseki spot relocating from Virgil Village. Miya Miya, which began as a backyard pop-up, will open with a 25-foot shawarma bar and patio seating; in the meantime, it pops up at West Edge every Friday night. KinKan’s new outpost will seat fifteen at a chef’s counter with takeout chirashi and bentos available. The additions mark a shift for the Bundy & Olympic corridor, bringing destination dining to an area long dominated by offices and retail.

SILVER LAKE 🥤 THOR’S SKYR

• Thor’s Skyr has softly opened its first café on Silver Lake Boulevard, introducing Los Angeles to its Icelandic-style cultured dairy product. The brand, co-founded by actor Dylan Sprouse, strongman Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, and entrepreneur Unnar Danielsson, brings a Nordic twist to LA’s health-conscious dining scene. Known for its thick, protein-rich, lactose-free skyr, Thor’s Skyr has previously gained traction through retail partnerships and innovative pop-ups. This new Silver Lake location offers a curated menu of skyr-based smoothies, bowls, and snacks, featuring flavors like Key Lime & Coconut and Coffee. The café’s minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired design aligns with the neighborhood’s aesthetic sensibilities, making it a refreshing addition to the local culinary landscape.

DESCANSO GARDENS 🧑‍🌾 FARMHOUSE

• Chef Rich Mead brings his signature farm-to-table ethos to Descanso Gardens with the debut of Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens, a 7,800-square-foot culinary retreat nestled just outside the main entrance of the 150-acre botanical haven. Known for his seasonal, sustainable menus at Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens, Mead’s latest concept invites guests to dine among camellias and oaks in a setting that blends warm, reclaimed wood design with lush garden views. Expect rotating menus of fresh California cuisine, immersive garden-inspired interiors, and a bar built from fallen trees on-site—all without requiring garden admission. • Loqui just opened its fifth location on Ventura Blvd in Studio City, taking over the former Humble Bird Express space near Laurel Promenade. Known for its roots at a Tartine pop-up and a flavor-forward menu inspired by Baja and Yucatán traditions, the local chain continues expanding from Culver City, DTLA, and Playa Vista. Expect signature achiote chicken and spicy shrimp tacos, beer, wine, and cocktails—all designed to channel the warmth of Mexico in a casual, high-foot-traffic spot.

The exhibition captures a rare, insider’s view of the era—from candid moments with bandmates to chaotic fan encounters—remastered from McCartney’s personal negatives and offered as signed editions for the first time. Complemented by vintage ephemera and vérité-style footage from the Maysles brothers, the show runs alongside McCartney’s touring Eyes of the Storm series and supports Southern California wildfire recovery efforts.

• THIS FRIDAY + NEXT MONDAY: Back after a sold-out Spaghetti Fest run, Widdle Women reimagines coming-of-age through the lens of four four-inch sisters growing up beneath a couch. Written and directed by Cassie Ahiers, the absurdist comedy stars four adult comedians as the miniature Davenport girls navigating love, lust, sisterhood, and Gwen Stefani choreography—all while dodging household hazards like Dysons. • FRIDAY: Ivy Station’s Night Market returns Friday, May 9 (5–10pm) with a Mother’s Day edition full of local flair—30+ vendors, food trucks, live DJ sets, craft drinks, a paint-and-sip studio, and even adoptable pups. Held on the lawn in Culver City, the evening offers free admission, parking, and Metro E line access, plus bites from Butterfly, Health Nut, Sweetfin, and Zaytinia, and drinks courtesy of Los Angeles Ale Works. • MAY 17TH - JUNE 28TH: Louis Stern Fine Arts welcomes Mark Leonard: Common Threads, a survey tracing the evolution of Leonard’s geometric abstractions—from his early 1970s works to his newest Catenary Curve series. A former Getty Museum conservator turned full-time artist, Leonard transforms woven forms, spheres, and architectural shapes into metaphors for memory, myth, and connection. Through a methodical yet deeply emotional practice, his work draws from classical music, ancient stories, and Old Master traditions to explore the shared patterns that bind human experience. • Achievable Health celebrated the grand opening of the Achievable Health Lovelace Center in Culver City on Thursday. This is a major expansion designed to improve healthcare access for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The new 10,000 sq ft facility more than triples the previous space, offering specialized treatment rooms, sensory spaces, and calming environments for patients and families. Named in honor of longtime supporters Anahita and Jim Lovelace, the center marks a milestone in a $4m philanthropic campaign, now just $500K from completion 💌

GLENDALE 📸 SPEED CAMERAS

• Glendale is advancing a five-year pilot to install speed safety cameras across nine locations citywide, part of a state-authorized program under Assembly Bill 645 aimed at reducing speed-related crashes. The City Council approved privacy and impact policy documents to move the project forward, which includes a sixty-day warning period and tiered fines starting at $50. Unlike controversial red-light cameras, these devices only capture license plates and issue non-moving violations. Officials emphasized the system’s focus on safety, with revenues restricted to program costs and local traffic calming. Cameras will be studied for eighteen months to assess effectiveness before any expansion.

• Louis Vuitton will debut a groundbreaking new flagship in 2029 at Rodeo Drive and Beverly Drive—an architectural statement designed by Frank Gehry that merges luxury, culture, and lifestyle. Spanning 100,000+ square feet, the project includes three levels of retail, a rooftop garden, café, and the brand’s first permanent U.S. exhibition space. Interiors will be led by Peter Marino, and a 100-seat restaurant will crown the rooftop. KOREATOWN 📫️ POST OFFICE MAKEOVER

• Nearly complete on South Harvard Boulevard, a sleek seven-story mixed-use from Jamison Services and Next Architecture replaces a former post office with 150 new apartments—ranging from studios to two-bedrooms—and 12,900 sq ft of ground-level retail. Approved under L.A.'s Transit Oriented Communities program, the project includes fifteen affordable units for extremely low-income households. A two-level garage fits 190 cars, while a central courtyard and co-working lounges offer minimalist, soft-toned interiors. Just south of 6th Street, the development adds density and walkability to Koreatown’s evolving urban core.

SQUID GAME 🦑 SEASON 3

• Netflix has unveiled the highly anticipated teaser for Squid Game's third and final season, set to drop on June 27th. The teaser promises an intense conclusion as Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), fresh off the devastating events of Season 2, returns to the deadly games with a mission to dismantle the brutal competition. Familiar faces, including the Front Man and several returning players, will join Gi-hun as the stakes rise, with new challenges and game mechanics on the horizon. As the narrative builds toward its gripping finale, fans are left speculating whether Gi-hun can succeed or will fall victim to the very system he seeks to destroy.

BOX OFFICE 🍿 MORE SUCCESS

• Despite no major new tentpoles, the domestic box office topped $145m for its fifth straight $100m+ weekend, thanks to Marvel’s Thunderbolts debuting with $76m across 4,330 screens. Though slightly under projections, its global total hit $162.1m, driven by strong audience scores (94% RT, A- CinemaScore) and heavy male turnout. WB’s Sinners held strong at #2 with $33m, now nearing $180m domestic, while A Minecraft Movie crossed $398m. Reissues and smaller releases like Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Disney’s Snow White also nudged legacy totals upward. With no major competition until Memorial Day, Thunderbolts is set to hold the throne a bit longer.
